Backgammon Tournaments

A backgammon tournament bring together a sizeable number of backgammon players at the same table. There are multiple matches, each with its group of players who participate in knock out rounds. The tournament winner and often the runners up will scoop the big prizes- these are the players that make their way through the knock out stages and are the last men or women standing, if you like.

Types of Tournament

Sit & Go Backgammon Tournaments
 
A tournament in which the places are filled on the fly. The match starts as soon as the required quota of players have signed up to lay. For example on Play65 Sit & Go tournaments, you can be playing with between 3 and 63 players.

 
Event Tournaments
 
These have a set starting time and date and are generally advertised prior to the event. The more players there are, the bigger the prize pool.

Backgammon Swing Tournaments
 
A match in which all the backgammon players  begin with the same number of chips. The winner is the last man or woman standing who scoops all the chips.

Players play other players randomly in single games.

Backgammon Satellite Tournaments
 
These are tournaments that feed into big backgammon tournament- you´ll get a free entry if you come through the satellite.
 
Backgammon knockout tournaments
 
Successive rounds of matches: each player plays in one match per round and the winner of each fixture goes through to the next round.
